PAVILION AS MONUMENT is an ongoing series of work (2023 - ) which focuses on the vernacular seating shelter found in Singapore’s public housing estate. In particular, it engages with the familiar yet underlooked structure as a “monument,” with specific emphasis on different spatial practices by racialized bodies. By offering an alternative engagement with the structure and its intended purpose, the pavilion makes space for narratives that expand notions of productivity and belonging.
